#74ArtsAndCultureNews — Piero Manzoni. ‘L’invincibile Jean’ and Early Works 1956 – 1957’ will be on view at Hauser & Wirth Basel between 27 November 2025 - 14 February 2026

A leading figure of the 1950s Italian avant-garde, Piero Manzoni (1933 – 1963) had a profound impact on the course of twentieth-century art during his brief yet prolific career, directly influencing the development of Arte Povera while paving the way for conceptual, body and performance art.

Featuring a selection of the artist’s early works on view together for the first time, the exhibition is a rare opportunity to explore this formative phase of Manzoni’s practice, revealing the unexpected foundations on which his later artistic production—including his widely celebrated series of white Achromes—was built.

Coinciding with this exhibition, the Fondazione Piero Manzoni in collaboration with Silvana Editoriale and Hauser & Wirth will publish a monograph dedicated to this early and formative phase of Manzoni’s practice. ‘Piero Manzoni. ‘L’invincibile Jean’ and Early Works 1956 – 1957’ is edited by Rosalia Pasqualino di Marineo and features an essay by scholar and curator Choghakate Kazarian.

#74ArtsAndCultureNews — Annie Leibovitz: ‘Wonderland’ is on view at Marta Ortega Pérez (MOP) Foundation through 1 May 2026

Opening at the Marta Ortega Pérez (MOP) Foundation in November Annie Leibovitz ‘Wonderland’ will be the first major survey of work by the acclaimed portrait photographer in Spain. The exhibition outlines the dazzling breadth of Leibovitz’s photographic universe, bringing together four distinct sections that have never previously been presented together in a single exhibition.

Starting with an immersive installation of Annie Leibovitz’s work with the Rolling Stones, the show continues with two sections ‘Early Years’ and ‘Stream of Consciousness’ that chart the evolution of the photographer’s vocabulary of different styles, illustrating her creative process and narrative voice.
