Late Picasso is the first major presentation of Pablo Picasso at Moderna Museet in more than thirty years. Here, the artist appears in his last years – from 1963 until his death in 1973. During these years, Picasso’s style became increasingly expressive and uncompromising. His late works combined two distinct ways of painting: one quick and simplified, made up of abbreviations and codified signs; the other bold and expressive, with thick, flowing paint hastily applied.

#74ArtsAndCultureNews — A rare seasonal opening at the Phanar Greek Orthodox College

Only once a year, the historic Phanar Greek Orthodox College opens its doors to the public, inviting visitors into its atmospheric hilltop world for a two-day winter bazaar on 13 and 14 December 2025.
Located in the Balat neighbourhood, the school’s striking red-brick silhouette, perched above the Golden Horn, becomes the backdrop for a seasonal gathering that blends tradition, craftsmanship and a sense of cultural continuity.

Visitors are offered a rare chance to step inside the monumental structure and wander through its courtyard, experiencing the spirit and architectural presence of one of Istanbul’s most storied institutions.

#74ArtsAndCultureNews — Piero Manzoni. ‘L’invincibile Jean’ and Early Works 1956 – 1957’ will be on view at Hauser & Wirth Basel between 27 November 2025 - 14 February 2026

A leading figure of the 1950s Italian avant-garde, Piero Manzoni (1933 – 1963) had a profound impact on the course of twentieth-century art during his brief yet prolific career, directly influencing the development of Arte Povera while paving the way for conceptual, body and performance art.

Featuring a selection of the artist’s early works on view together for the first time, the exhibition is a rare opportunity to explore this formative phase of Manzoni’s practice, revealing the unexpected foundations on which his later artistic production—including his widely celebrated series of white Achromes—was built.

Coinciding with this exhibition, the Fondazione Piero Manzoni in collaboration with Silvana Editoriale and Hauser & Wirth will publish a monograph dedicated to this early and formative phase of Manzoni’s practice. ‘Piero Manzoni. ‘L’invincibile Jean’ and Early Works 1956 – 1957’ is edited by Rosalia Pasqualino di Marineo and features an essay by scholar and curator Choghakate Kazarian.
