NUMINOUS
The exhibition is by a collective of young emerging Turkish and international artists from multiple disciplines and backgrounds. The purpose of the exhibition “Numinous” is to create a space between the process and the piece of art itself. It concentrates on engaging the audience with the story of the exhibition and thus questioning the traditional role of the white cube and its boundaries by breaking the perspective of all parties. The exhibition will feature video installations, sculptures, photography, sound and light installations. Artists involved: Lalin Akalan, Magnus Bischofberger, Margherita Chiarva, Ayla Hibri Caglar Kanzik and Eren Senkardes.
PRESS RELEASE
Istanbul’74 presents “Numinous”, an exhibition where we aim to challenge the rules amongst the artist and audience by reducing the role of the gallery in order to demonstrate the expressions of the artist. “Numinous is not a show, it’s not a place, nor an event, it is a production of our own reality. As artists we come together and invite you to take part in the experiment of breaking down walls, constraints and conditions that separate you from us. Numinous will be our laboratory and our headquarters where creation doesn’t have a start and an end but where consciousness is constantly altered. Here labor is ever evolving, in a neutral home that hosts all abstract thought, practice and craft. Welcome.”
