IN PURSUIT OF ILLUSION

ISTANBUL’74 in collaboration with CLUBHOUSE BEBEK present In Pursuit of Illusion, a group exhibition showcasing works by Volkan Aslan, Hazal Haznedaroğlu and Gülin Hayat Topdemir.

The human mind believes it comprehends reality solely through what it perceives. However, the reality constructed in our minds is not limited to what is visible; it is built through our interpretations. As Carl Jung stated, “Reality is not only what our eyes see but also what our mind discovers. The search for meaning beyond what is visible is a journey into the inner world of the human being.” This exhibition offers an experience of reality and the journeys born from its various perceptions.

In Pursuit of Illusion creates a new layer of reality for the viewer by challenging perception through the idea that reality is an illusion and illusion is a layer of truth. The use of colors, abstract forms, and elements of illusion in the exhibition invites us to question the accuracy of perception. Is what we see truly real? Does each viewer perceive a different reality? Or is it merely a trick of our minds?

This collection invites the audience to wander through a world where reality is uncertain, to lose themselves in the depths of the subconscious and perception. With the exuberance of colors, the flow of forms, and the guidance of light, the works call upon the viewer to discover the unseen beyond the visible.
