Marking 15 years of creative collaboration with Robert Montgomery, ISTANBUL’74 is pleased to announce the artist’s second solo exhibition in Istanbul, opening on 23 September 2026 at ISTANBUL’74 Arnavutköy.
One of the leading voices in contemporary text-based art, Robert Montgomery is internationally recognised for his poetic language across billboards, illuminated works, fire poems, woodcuts and watercolours. His work has been presented at the Lyon Biennale, Kochi-Muziris Biennale and Yinchuan Biennale, and exhibited at institutions including Aspen Art Museum, Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center and CerModern.
The exhibition continues a creative collaboration spanning more than fifteen years, following previous projects in Istanbul, Bodrum, and Paris, including Montgomery’s exhibition Chapter 6, presented by ISTANBUL’74 and Galerie Nuke.
Bringing together a selection of Montgomery’s seminal works alongside new pieces presented for the first time, the exhibition reflects both his evolving practice and his longstanding relationship with Istanbul.
