IRINI KARAYANNOPOULOU

Irini Karayannopoulou is a Greek artist and filmmaker based in Athens whose multidisciplinary work spans painting, collage, animation, and film. A graduate of École des Beaux-Arts de Saint-Étienne, she reworks vintage imagery to explore themes of femininity, identity, and cultural memory. She is the founder of JANUS Femzine and part of the collectives Extra-Conjugale and Twin Automat Films.

Where are you from and where are you now?

I’m really from space, and now I’m in Hydra.

What are you working on recently?

Working on a new film, a curatorial project, and two solo exhibitions.

What does the word ‘real’ mean to you?

Real is whatever makes you feel alive.

What defines your reality?

Art, really.

Real and surreal.
