INITIATED BY ’74,“INSIDE OUT PROJECT GROUP ACTION: A CALL FOR GOODWILL”LAUNCHES IN ISTANBUL, TURKEY

18/11/2019 - 20/01/2020 ISTANBUL'74

ISTANBUL'74 announced its participation in the Inside Out Project Group Action with “A Call for Goodwill”, a project that serves as a celebration of humanity. TED2011 Prize winner JR's Inside Out Project is a large-scale, participatory global art project that transforms messages of personal identity into pieces of artistic work. After cities such as Brussels, Paris, Rome, Berlin, London, New York, Cartagena, Caracas, Congo, Chiang Mai, Tehran, Tunisia, and Johannesburg, the Inside Out Project gets initiated in Istanbul to create change.

’74 team describes “A Call for Goodwill” as:

Known as a cultural melting-pot and the intersection of East and West, Turkey has an unparalleled centuries-long multicultural history. As citizens of a transcontinental country known for its hospitality, diversity and cultural richness we want to end social and cultural polarization. Our project will serve as a celebration of humanity by portraying citizens who help and support others with remarkable acts of goodwill, regardless of race, ethnicity, cultural and religious beliefs while hoping to inspire a humanistic approach towards all and a drive to help others.

An open call to action has been issued by ’74 to find people who go out of their way to make life better for the ones that need a helping hand. The call asks people to either nominate themselves or others in their community through filling out a form at http://bit.ly/INSIDEOUTISTANBUL

Participants will be photographed for the project and their portraits will be printed as black and white posters to be exhibited at selected locations in Istanbul.

The project aims to acknowledge the people who make life better for others and strengthen the bonds within our community by encouraging more good deeds.

ABOUT THE INSIDE OUT PROJECT

Inside Out is a large-scale participatory art project that transforms messages of personal identity into pieces of artistic work. Everyone is challenged to use black and white photographic portraits to discover, reveal and share the untold stories and images of people around the world. These digitally uploaded images are made into posters and sent back to the projectʼs co-creators, for them to exhibit in their own communities.

Posters can be placed anywhere, from a solitary image in an office window, to a wall of an abandoned building, or in a full stadium. These exhibitions will be

documented, archived and be made available online at http://www.insideoutproject.net/.

The INSIDE OUT project is a creation of the artist JR, recipient of the 2011 TED Prize (watch JR's TED talk here: https://www.ted.com/talks/jr_one_year_of_turning_the_world_inside_out).
