ISTANBUL, TURKEY – ISTANBUL’74 and AnOther Magazine proudly presents the 4th (/second/ inaugural) annual Istanbul International Arts and Culture Festival (IST. Festival) from June 6 through June 9, 2013, hosted by Demet Müftüoğlu Eşeli (ISTANBUL’74 founder), Alphan Eşeli (ISTANBUL’74 founder) and Jefferson Hack (Editorial Director and Publisher, Dazed Group).

Presented by ISTANBUL’74 and AnOther Magazine, supported by the Turkish Ministry of Tourism and Culture, sponsored by VAKKO, the Istanbul International Arts and Culture Festival is a three-day event, free and open to the public, with lectures, conversations, performances, and screenings and exhibitions to foster creative collaboration between the world’s finest cultural minds in the fields of art, design, fashion, film, music, literature, and architecture with their counterparts in Turkey.

This year’s participants include photographers Philip-Lorca DiCorcia, Francesco Carrozzini, and Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin; curator of scents Chandler Burr; writer Geoff Dyer; actresses Felicity Jones and Rachel Korine; artist Ed Fornieles; filmmakers Lynne Ramsay, Harmony Korine, Kenneth Anger; composer and score-writer Elliot Goldenthal; theatre, opera and film director Julie Taymor; magazine editors Franca Sozzani and Jefferson Hack; Designers Dice Kayek and Waris Ahluwalia; dj Nicolas Jaar; cultural sociologist Johan Kugelberg; and internet pioneers Chris Poole aka “moot” and Anthony Volodkin. The international participants will be joined by their premier Turkish cultural counterparts; Saadet Aksoy, Efe Çakarel, Yeşim Ustaoğlu, Alin Taşçıyan, Perihan Mağden, Muammer Brav, Zeynep Tanbay, Balçiçek Pamir, and Barbaros Altuğ, forging a dynamic arts diplomacy program fostering greater cultural relations between Turkey and the international community.

In addition to panel discussions, this year’s festival will include a self-titled exhibition of works by photographers, Inez & Vinoodh; an exhibition of portraits by Francesco Carrozzini; a pop-up tearoom by designer and cultural provocateur, Waris Ahluwalia; and a one-night-only after-hours Le Baron club.

With widespread sponsorship and support, the 2013 edition of the Istanbul International Arts and Culture Festival promises to foster Turkish arts and culture and promote open dialogue within the international creative community.
